    Defense Leads Win over Hurricaes

Senior OLB Quan Sturdivant (7 TAK, 1 INT) leads the defense who allowed an astounding 159 yards (44 rushing) of total offense to the #20 Ranked Miami Hurricanes. The D forced 4 turnovers on the day, and only allowed the Canes to convert 7 first downs on this day of domination. SR CB Charles Brown chipped in with 2 interceptions of his own on the day to improve the Tar Heels to 5-2 on the season, 2-2 in ACC play.

    Shut Those Birds Up

Senior TE Zack Pianalto explodes on the field with 6 Receptions for a whopping 204 yards and 2 TDs. The Hokies had no answer for the Mackey Award nominee, as he was able to run wild across the field, including a 71 yarder late to put the game away.

    New Blood

The Giovanni Bernard Era at Chapel Hill began in Record Breaking fashion, as the Redshirt Freshman HB tallied 356 total yards, including 320 yards and 5 TDs on the ground. He also set an NCAA Record with a 91 yard TD run late in the 3rd quarter. If this is a sample of what's to come, there will be some solid Title hopes for the Heels for years.

    That Close...

The Tar Heels go into Bobby Dodd Stadium and come up a little short to begin ACC play. The Yellow Jackets displayed an impressive option attack that kept the Heels off balance all game. The teams exchanged scores throughout, with neither managing any more than a 7 point lead. With the game tied and under a minute to go in the 4th, North Carolina turned on their vaunted 2-minute attack and drove the ball down to Tech's 10 yard line. But for the second straight year, a late timeout successfully "Iced" one of the Nation's top Kickers, forcing the game into OT. The Home team was able to score quickly, and then stopped the Visitors on a 4th and Inches play just outside of the endzone to pull off the upset.

Tough loss but it seems like you have a great season ahead.

He does. His defense is loaded, and his dual QB attack is tough to stop considering you don't know which one is in the game till after you pick your play. Very tough to stop as they both bring a different element to the offense and keep the chains moving. Very frustrating trying to get his offense off the field.

Thanks man, I sent you a message. I don't normally lose my cool like that. You take the entire rest of the game and it was fantastic. Kudos to your offense as well. Whenever I thought I ad a good defense to stop your run, you did something completely different.

    In-State Hate

The Pirates of ECU take the drive out to Chapel Hill and get sent home with their tails between their legs. The Tar Heels take care of business, handing out a 56-10 beating. FR Phenom Giovani Bernard had another outstanding game, picking up 255 yards and 5 TDs on 21 carries. The run threat also made things considerably easier for the passing game, as UNC QBs combined to go 15-17 with 192 yards and a TD.

    Renewing the Rivalry

The Giovani Bernard Show continues to roll, this time against the hated Wolfpack of NC State. Add another 3 TDs and 156 yards to the impressive totals so far this season. The QBs again benefitted from the solid attack, as the Heels only had 1 pass not end up in the hands of a WR (unfortunately, it ended up in the hands of a defender).

    Explosion!

The Hokies started out strong in this one, ending the first quarter with a 3-0 lead over the Heels. And then the wheels fell off the bus. North Carolina then rattles 42 unanswered points over the 2nd and 3rd quarters before allowing a fluke deep TD from VT, and ending with a 49-10 rout. Bernard had another big game, going for 273 and 4 TDs, but the passing attack also came out firing, totaling 287 yards and 3 TDs. Hopefully this run will continue as the ACC schedule picks up.
